I've got my dancing shoes on and so should you. Here's a catchy little minimal number by Psychic Youth. I just stumbled upon this interview with former member Perry Geyer HERE. Am totally brain dead right now so that's all you get out of me. Enjoy!
The zine is officially SOLD OUT, for now! If you are patient I will be printing 100 additional copies in the near future, so all hope is not lost. At some point I will also start posting the extra material from the first issue slowly on the blog starting next week.
Here's some double trouble, for you. Two songs that are both awesome and eerily similar. Ghost Walks from Portland, Maine. This track is featured on the 1985 half US and half French comp KK77. Secondly, a tune from Japanese group OXZ from their 1985 EP. Take a listen and you'll see why these two are inextricably mashed up in my head at all times.
I am particularly pleased to share this little jam with you. Australian band The Particles. I am not going to tell you much because they are pretty well documented HERE and you can see loads of pics and whatnot as well as links to other info. There are also a couple pics in the book Inner City Sound if you have that lying around.
In other news, issue one of the print zine is out and available to buy at our webstore HERE. They are going fast so get 'em while they last!
Sadly, it appears, I have hit another dead-end in Edith Nylon. She does not seem to want to talk to me. But, it doesn't make me love her any less. I don't know what else to say that won't reveal my despair and heartbreak about being so close to her, yet so far. First of all, if you are uninitiated, get your dancing shoes on:
Secondly, this track is not only my favorite Edith Nylon song, this video is taken from one of my favorite movies La Brune Et Moi which is jam packed with loads of awesome ladies including Les Lou's, Ici Paris and Anouschka et Les Privés, much of which, maybe all, appears on the My Girlfriend Was a Punk compliation. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Yes, I have been busy. Yes, I have been too busy to post any videos or tell you about any bands. I am taking a little break from editing, before my head explodes, to reward your patience. And, I consider this a BIG reward. So, get ready, here's a song by 48 Chairs. I have been keeping this one under my hat, waiting, hoping to get confirmation on a couple leads. But, it would appear the trail has gone cold, for now. If you don't like this song, then you must not have ears.
This band was part of Absurd Records and you can read all about the label HERE over at D.I.Y. or Die.
I hope you all enjoy this and my slow descent into editing induced madness. See ya real soon!
Two weird ones in the same day! Y'all are so lucky. This song popped in to my head when I saw my favorite feminist sci-fi check-out girl at the supermarket today. Her green hair, red lipstick and yellow sweater made me think of this 1970 gem of sci-fi prog rock. So, here you go:
So, again, if you know me at all, you know that This Heat is my all time favorite band. So much so, I have multiple times considered getting "T-H-I-S H-E-A-T" tattooed across my knuckles. That being said, you can imagine that words could not express the joy I felt when I found this Charles Bullen project on Crammed Discs. It has all the beloved This Heat trademarks, a little tribal essence and a female singer. It's like a dream come true!!!
